Inside the park
The park is divided into 3 areas; the City, the Prairie Country, and the Water Country.
The City
You will first arrive at the City, where there’s an information building, a shop and a restaurant, as well as an area where you can ride strange bicycles for a small fee. There’s also an indoor gym when the weather isn’t your friend.
There are four forms of transportation within the park:
- A green train which goes to the top of the Prairie Country,
- An orange train which goes to the water country,
- A bus which goes all the way around the park.
- Walk! (The best way in my opinion)
You can ride the trains/bus for a small fee, and you buy the tickets from the driver. I wouldn’t rely solely on these though as they’re only once every so often and if they’re full…well you’re stuck!
The Prairie Country
From the City we walked on the path heading north-east towards the Prairie Country. There are many different activities like frisbee golf, walking through Rocky Mountain and the Spider Web playground .
We reached “nohara no ya”, which is 917m above sea level. For ¥100, we were able to rent tools to create anything we wanted using the woodprovided. We ended up making a small step for our sink back home.
There was a restaurant and a BBQ area too. We brought our own food so we found a nice area to sit on the grass and had a little picnic.
It’s up in this area where you can stay overnight auto camping, stay in a yurt or set up a tent which might be fun because one day isn’t enough to enjoy the full extent of the park.
If you walk down the other side, there’s a small farm with some animals.
The Water Country
The Water Country is ideal during the hot summer days. We went on a canoe in the pond which was free. You can splash around in the water park.
