Namjatown – a strange indoor theme park in Japan

Location

2F Ikebukuro Sunshine City (Google Maps)

A huge shopping and entertainment complex with restaurants, cafes, shops, an aquarium, a planetarium, etc.

Cost

¥1,000 entrance fee for adults / ¥600 for children aged 4-12 years old (0-3 year olds are free).

If you want to ride and take part in the attractions, you can purchase a different ticket which costs a lot more. You can also pay for each attraction once you’re inside the theme park as well.

It happened to be my birthday so I got in for free! (Make sure you bring an ID to prove your DOB…)

Reservation

No reservations required! It was pretty empty on the Sunday we went actually!

What To Expect

Honestly, we didn’t understand 80% of what this theme park actually was… that being said, it was really cool to be in a very old-school Japanese ‘town’ and a nice place for kids to explore. It’s all indoors so great on a rainy day.

The rides were too scary for my son (and me lol), and the other attractions are quite difficult to understand if you don’t speak Japanese. But to walk around and try some of the interesting gyoza (dumplings) and desserts was good enough for us!
